Welcome to LaBMI

LaBMI is Forefront Of Biotechnology Research Applied Medical and Industrial Challenges.

This research unit is coordinated by Dr. Rúben Fernandes and Dr. Pilar Baylina. It is dedicated to applied research to industrial and medical solutions by means of biotechnological and microbiological methodologies. LaBMI is particular devoted to molecular virology using animal and cell models for the applications of oncolytic viruses, bacteriophages, and molecular diagnostics of diseases.

LaBMI created a new Hyperbaric Medicine and Technology Unit (HMT UNIT). This is devoted to the study of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. High-pressure oxygen treatment can help heal any wound, whether on your skin or even in your brain.

Design, evaluation and apply methods to identify associations between lifestyle research, genetic variants, infections and health outcomes.

Since its foundation, main research is Medical and Industrial Biotechnology Innovation and Creativity are keys to remain within the state of the art.

LaBMI provides different services in addition to research, such as teaching, scientific events, tailored training, biological analysis …
